denmark-lion-cubs-zooDENMARK: Four loin cub were killed  at Danish zoo because no new home was available.
According to the media reports, two loin cubs which were reported to be 10 month old were put down by the zoo authorities because they had failed to find new home for them.
Same sort of situation was observed one month back when the giraffe was shot with a bolt gun, dissected in front of a large crowd of both adults and children, and fed to the lions.
It is reported that the protest are organized by the group of animal rights activists in front of the zoo.
Copenhagen Zoo authorities justify themselves in a statement:
“Because of the pride of lions’ natural structure and behaviour, the zoo has had to euthanise the two old lions and two young lions who were not old enough to fend for themselves”.

They further added that:
Loin cubs “would have been killed by the new male lion as soon as he got the chance.”

Chief executive Steffen Straede told media reporters that:
“The zoo is recognised worldwide for our work with lions, and I am proud that one of the zoo’s own brood now forms the centre of a new pride of lions.”

Similarly, the zoo said on its website that they had no choice but to prevent the animal attaining adulthood since under European Association of Zoos and Aquaria rules, inbreeding between giraffes is to be avoided.
