LAHORE: Pakistani-origin British boxer Amir Khan has been appointed as Sports Ambassador of Punjab Youth Festival 2014.
Two times boxing champion had a meeting with CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and the sports minister of Punjab Rana Mashhud Ahmad Khan on Friday, and there he was offered to be the ambassador of Punjab youth Festival 2014, which he later on accepted.
World famed boxing star also held a press conference with Punjab sports minister in which he announced his position for Youth Festival 2014 as Sports Ambassador.
Amir Khan said on this occasion
“I am willing to come to Pakistan twice a year and will participate in the training sessions of the young Pakistani boxers provided a world class boxing academy established in Lahore.”“I will try my best to be personally present on the occasion of World Boxing Council Championship to be held in Lahore to promote boxing in Pakistan.”
CM Punjab and Sports Minister Punjab have welcomed this new development saying that it will boost sports activities in Pakistan specially boxing and it’s an honor for us to have Amir who will prove as value addition in this regard.
