It indeed is a proud moment for all Pakistanis. Lieutenant General Maqsood Ahmed has taken oath as United Nations’ new Military Advisor.
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon took the oath from Lieutenant General Maqsood Ahmed. It is mandatory to mention here that Lieutenant General Maqsood Ahmed was appointed by Ban Ki-moon as military advisor for Peacekeeping Operations at UN back on 26th of August 2013.
United Nations has provided information that Military Advisor is responsible for the provision of military advice to Under-Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations. In addition, if requested, he will also provide military advice to Under-Secretaries-General for Political Affairs and Field Support, the Secretary-General and Security Council.
Military Advisor also has the responsibility of advising and supporting heads of offices and divisions in the department of Peacekeeping Operations, Field Support, operations with military components. These departments are led by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations. Political Affairs department lead the military advisory functions and missions.
Pakistani military is considered as one of the best military in the world and their professionalism is appreciated globally. It is not a surprise that United Nations has appointed one of the best men as their Military Advisor.
