PowerPoint has been improvised by an Arab Woman

DUBAI: 31 years old Emirati Arab woman engineer Fatima Jaseem Al Zaabi, has recently got an invitation to dinner at the White House by the American President Barack Obama. In the recognition for her innovative use of Microsoft PowerPoint for creating architectural designs for houses.

Fatima, lives with her family in Abu-Dhabi. Her last qualification is her High School Diploma. She always wanted to get knowledge about computer programs and technology.

In the beginning, Fatima first took up an Engineering Course at Al Khwarizmi International College in Al Ain because she wanted to become a Civil Engineer. She found it very difficult to use software application Auto Cad, which is a specific program that allows users to draw homes in 2D and 3D designs.

After a year, she decided to drop and not to go further with this course. Then she found an alternative without having professional course, she came up with the idea that took six years to install new options in the tool bar of PowerPoint

Fatima said, ‘It took a lot of trial and errors but over the years’, she tried all the versions an each version was better than the last one. She first tested her improvised PowerPoint tools to one of her sister’s home, While her sister wanted to design a new home

She published the first edition of her book on her own expense, And in the meanwhile she has got approached by Microsoft and Google who was interested to buy her program. She added that, she wanted to show the entire world that how empowered Muslim women in the UAE are.
