Dhaka, Bangladesh.-An Islamist political party started protests on the
execution of one of their party leader Abdul Quader Molla. Abdul Quader
Molla was sentenced for life imprisonment convicted of war crimes by the
International Crimes Tribunal. On february 2013 the non-islamist party
and its supporters started demanding the capital punishment for Abdul
Quader Mollah and others convicted of war crimes during the Bangladesh
Liberation War, boycott of Jamaat institutions and
Ban
on Jamaat-e-Islami from politics. All this happened because he was the
supporter of united Pakistan till his last breath. As he now become the
first person to be hanged because of his participation in deadly war of
1971 as the war of independence from Pakistan. Jamaat-e-Islami
party said that Mollah’s trial was politically motivated and an attempt
to eliminate Islamic parties. While on the other hand supports of the
execution are saying that he was hanged for serious crimes, and that the
punishment had nothing to do with Islam. Following the execution, a
Jamaat-e-Islami leader, Makbul Ahmed, said in a statement that “people
would take revenge on this killing by establishing Islam in Bangladesh,
which is stained with the blood of Abdul Quader Mollah.”
On Friday Interior Minister of Pakistan Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan
expressing his deep grief said Abdul Quader Molla was undoubtedly
executed because of his loyalty and solidarity with Pakistan in 1971
war. Further in a statement, he said executing Molla after a delay of 42
years to the events of 1971 was very unfortunate and tragic and some
circles are declaring it a judicial murder. “Till the very end before
creation of Bangladesh, he (Molla) remained supporter of a united
Pakistan and today every Pakistani is saddened and grieved on his
death.”
