ROME: A 55- year old had the remains of his dead son converted into a diamond, as he found it difficult to let go of him.
The old man’s son was reportedly killed in a car crash, while he had his remains exhumed, cremated and his ashes turned into diamonds, through a Swiss firm, which specializes in the process.
One of the owners at the funeral firm , which helped him convert his idea into reality said,
When we explained the idea, he asked us to help him – and we did.
The company that offers the service, Algordanza which creates the ‘Remembrance diamonds’ creates the special diamonds at a cost ranging from €3,500 to €13,000, whereas the process involves filtering and refining the carbon found in the remains of the dead, securing in a chamber and applying intense temperature and pressure to it, after which it is converted into a diamond.
The company has been providing the services for the past 4 years.
